Brief Answer:
Yes you should be concerned.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for choosing "Ask a Doctor" service for your query,
Have seen your details.
Yes definitely you should be concerned and earliest thing to do is rule out any chances of malignancies.
As a rule of thumb sudden loss of weight along with pain etc can be a early sign of malignancy.
I would definitely recommend you to go for Colonoscopy to screen out any polyp or mass.
Along with it fecal calprotectin test should be done to rule out any inflammation in intestines.
General baseline tests like stool test is recommended.
Hope I was helpful,
Thank you.

What do you think it most likely is?

Why do you think my gastro doctor didn’t express concern about losing 8 pounds in three weeks? Is that possible malpractice?
Brief Answer:
Follow up.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again dear patient,
I won't accuse him of malpractice.
See every skull is different and in medical science there is no Golden rule. Every patient is different and so is the approach of diagnosing him/her.
Secondly every doctor has its own approach which is developed over years through his/her clinical experience.
You have not mentioned your age but if you are in late 30's he/she should have definitely considered colonoscopy.
See we have technology we have machines so why to take risk even if it's 0.001% this is my approach however other person can have different thought.
You could discuss this directly with your doctor.
But yes baselines tests should have been done.
Before making any professional comment I would like to wait for results of colonoscopy mam.
Making random wild guesses would just make you anxious.
But yes if sudden weight loss is there in a patient definitely malignancy should be ruled out(basics).
Thank you dear and feel free to follow up.

I’m 32 and was told if it was cancer it would have showed up in my blood work. This doesn’t apply to me. I’ve seen a lot of stories of young women with children having CC. Is it possible that pregnancy can cause CC even if no direct link has been established?

Hi there
As explained above there is not sure shot formula for every one in medical science.
Common presentation means the symptoms shown by 95 out of 100 people's but in other 5 cases symptoms may be different.
Colonoscopy is just a normal out patient procedure.
I don't think that there is any problem in performing one.
Thank you!.
