Question : I received a small burn on my finger about 28 hours ago from a hot toaster. Shortly afterwards, the blister that had formed popped a bit when I grazed the finger accidentally. I've left it pretty much bandaged since then with the exception of washing it about 4 times. It still looks about the same though, which a bit of blister ooze.
My question - do I need a tetanus shot since it is still an open wound? I believe I received my last booster just about 9 or 10 years ago, so I think I am right on the cutoff. I have kept it clean, but I'm not sure what the risks are.
I will also be using a small amount of silver sulfadiazine on the wound, but please let me know if you disagree with that and have a different recommendation for treatment.
Thank you in advance.

                                    Brief Answer:
You did right
Detailed Answer:
Dear sir, I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns, however you did right by washing the blister wound and applying bandages most of the time to avoid its contamination by an infection.. I would recommend that you get a tetanus booster shot although the risk of acquiring tetanus infection is minimal.. I would also recommend that you apply the sliver sulfadiazine three to five times daily.. I hope you find this helpful.. If you don’t have any other clarifications then please close the discussion..
