I Recently Had A CT Suggest What Need To Be Done

Question : Hi. I recently had a CT scan that showed the following:

FINDINGS:
Pulmonary arteries: Normal. No pulmonary emboli.
Aorta: Unremarkable. No aortic aneurysm. No aortic dissection.
Lungs: Unremarkable. No consolidation. No masses.
Pleural space: 17 mm in greatest dimension area of nodular pleural thickening
versus pleural based mass in the anterior right lower lobe.
Heart: Unremarkable. No cardiomegaly. No pericardial effusion.
Lymph nodes: Unremarkable. No enlarged lymph nodes.
Bones/joints: Unremarkable. No acute fracture.
Soft tissues: Unremarkable.
IMPRESSION:
1. No evidence of pulmonary embolus or aortic dissection.
2. Small focus of nodular pleural thickening versus pleural based mass,
anterior right lower lobe.

Can you interpret this for me in terms of the findings regarding lungs? i had a follow-up with my primary care and she said it was a 17mm nodule and is sending me to a thoracic dr for followup. if i read the info above it seems lie there is a mass in the pleural space? if so, how big is that and what does that mean in vs. the findings that say

Thanks for your reply. I had been having some back pain the last couple weeks like a pulled muscle in the right middle back. At times it felt like a kidney stone which i have had in the past. I also had an unexlaines blood clot in leg before and clot in arm after shoulder surgery. So i wanted to rule those out before i went to my neuromuscalar guy for the pain. Both dr. Think the pain is muscular and say the nodule is too small to be causing that pain. So that was the genesis of them finding the thickening. I have no other symptoms, aside now from the constant worry and anxiety. I have never smoked or drink alcohol and have never had any lung issues in the past.

You mention potential infection. Could i have had an infection and not know it?

What type of things should i be on the lookout for in terms of symptoms?

No other symptoms and no fever or weight loss. I started physical thrapy yesterday for back and see some improvement already. Not sure if there was a trigger point in there but i will continue with pt for a few weeks.

The appt with thoracic specialist is prob not for a few weeks. I am waiting for them to schedule. So i assume i shld ask them to do another ct to check if size has changed, correct?

In either case, based on what we”ve talked about so far, if this is something malignant would you say that it early given no symptoms and size of nodule?

Hi. I have recently had nite sweats over the last week. Is this a sign of anything or can it be driven by anxiety.

Alsi got a little more clarity on the scan. There is pleral noduling in lower right lobe 17mm.

I have appt wth thoracic dr in 3weeks.
