I Recently Had A Sexual Experience With A New Partner

Question: I recently had a sexual experience with a new partner and I believe I contracted epididymitus, chlamydia, or something equivalent. This happened to me years ago but was healed quickly. I was prescribed Ciprofloxacin by an online doctor 4 days ago and it doesn't seem to be helping. I have no discharge, don't have severe pain, but I do have swelling around my groin area and discomfort almost constantly. I believe I need something else prescribed after ready about the Cipro and it not working. I cannot see a doctor at this time and need to know how and what I should use.

Brief Answer:
Ceftriaxon and doxocycline needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
You are right on saying that ciprofloxacine is not working because it doesn't cure sexually transmitted infection that causes epidydimitis.
Ideally you should do methylene blue test and first urine void test for leukocytes to diagnose it.
As you are describing the signs looks like epidydimitis caused by chlamydia or Gonorrhea.

The treatment consists of a single dose of Ceftriaxon 250mg intramuscular and a treatment of oral doxocycline 100mg twice daily for 10 days.
Use ibuprofen for pain.
Use cold compresses to reduce swelling.

Hope I have answered the question.
