Question: I recently tried to have sex with a lady and as I tried to insert my penis in her vagina, the condom broke and I pulled out my penis same time and replaced the condom with a new one as I had not ejaculated. Do I have reason to worry of potential HIV or STI's as I dont know if the lady is positive or negative

Brief Answer:
Regarding STDs

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and noted your concern.

A broken condom poses a risk of STDs. However, since you immediately pulled out as soon as the condom broke so that means the unprotected contact was only for a very short period. Even though it wasn't entirely safe but unprotected sex that lasts long poses a much higher risk. Anyways I suggest you to screen for all STDs like gonorrhea, chlamydia, HSV, HIV and Syphilis (vdrl) at 4 weeks to be sure that the episode was safe.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.
