I have that history...I then treat or am treated with an antibiotic and the relief will last about 3 months and then the terrible itchy will return....this has been going on for a number of years...what's your thought as to future treatment?

Use antiseptic shampoo & antihistaminic
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query.
Your scalp itching could be associated with infection as it is relieved by antibiotics.
I would recommend you to use an antiseptic shampoo like cetrimide lotion for head wash regularly and take antiallergic like chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg once daily at bedtime for few weeks.
This will take care of sinusitis and prevent itching.
I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to answer any further queries.

Dr Asmeet

I am not fully satisfied with your answer for a couple of reasons.....first of all the cetrimide antiseptic shampoo is not available in the United States and oversees pharms are out of stock.....and local pharmacies have never heard of it..they recommended Selsunblue lotion....which I have used but not very reliable....still itch from the drying out procedure...second I am wondering if I have a need for a "shampoo" as I have no hair . I am bald mostly...
I was able to get the chlorpheniramine maleate in pill form and will use it...
I fail to see how these two meds would 'take care of sinusitis' as you quoted..
If you feel that you cannot give me a better answer or result I would ask for a refund of my
deposit...thank you...
