Question : I threw up four times at 8:45 pm. The last time I threw up there was small amount of blood in my vomit. I had taken pink pedialite to get some fluids in my stomach at 7:45 pm. I am also taking an antibiotic for a yeast infection, it is called metronidazle and have been taking it for 7 days. I did not eat dinner. I do not have any abdominal pain, and just threw up with no real pain. I had a headache two hours ago but it is gone. Although the pedialite was pink, I am pretty confident there was blood in the vomit.

Brief Answer:
acute gastritis with stomach lining erosion.guidelines below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* As per my clinical experience, vomiting with blood indicate gastritis
causing erosion of stomach wall lining due to consumption of
metronidazole without dinner.
Pedialite is not a culprit.

* Kindly follow certain guidelines to get well soon

- Need prescription of anti emetic as ondancetron or domperidone for vomit
control.
- Proton pump inhibitor as pantoprazole or omeprazole ( can be available off
the counter without prescription ) to be taken with sips of water on empty
stomach morning and evening.
- Stop further doses of metronidazole at present.
- Avoid spices, non veg, dairy fat in diet.
- Do not skip lunch or dinner and consume small amount of food at intervals.
- Do not panic as the issue settles very fast with proper medical
management.

Hope this information will help you for sure.
Wish you best recovery.

Thanks.
