Question : I took 3 plan b this past month I’m 7 days late. I took a test it said not pregnant. Could the plan b cause me to miss a period or just delay it?

I have gone through your query and would like to offer some information.

Plan B or any emergency contraceptive pill contains high dose of progesterone. This disturbs the hormone balance of the body and causes delay in the next natural cycle by a week or two.

If the pill is consumed within the stipulated time period after an unprotected intercourse, high protection is ensured. Therefore, chances of conception are very low.

As you have taken 3 pills in the same cycle, your period is delayed. You can wait until ten days after the expected date and go for a proper clinical evaluation after this period.

Please restrict the use of the emergency contraceptive pill for a couple of occasions in a year to avoid hormonal imbalances.
