Question : I took a 50mg Tramadol sustained release 8 hours ago and at the same time took a 8mg Zofran tablet for nausea. I feel ok but just learned that the two drugs have contraindications and a dangerous drug interaction. Should I be worried? I assume the Zofran will be out of my system by tomorrow and I will be safe to take my morning dose of Tramadol?
Brief Answer:
Most often safe..
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Tramadol and zofran when taken together is known to increase serotonin level. However clinically this combination is relatively safe and no such adverse events occur. Sometimes though, ondosetrol (zofran) may reduce efficacy of tramadol. Therefore if you are looking for pain management, it is better to avoid zofran.
Now, after 8 hours since diet intake, this episode ( consuming zofran and tramadol) is safe and will be protected. So don't be worried you will be fine and ready to take the morning dose tomorrow. Besides the combination is safe by the time you take the pills tomorrow.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.
Regards
