Question : I was doing laundry and got done and noticed a semi wet round blue xanax pill on the floor, i asked my son repeatedly if he had put it in his mouth and he said yes , i just want to make sure that hes going to be alright and what to do
Brief Answer:
Kindly give few more details
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
For a detailed assessment of risk for any side effects, I would like to get few more details:
1. His age and body weight
2. Exact time when this was noticed (how many minutes/hours before)
3. The dose of the drug. Xanax is available in different doses. Just look for the dose in milligrams, as written on the pill cover
4. Any symptoms like vomiting, drowsiness or sleepiness following this
Since most of the pill is left there on the floor, chance of any significant ingestion and serious adverse effects is less likely.
Anyhow, Kindly get back with details, so that I can guide you better

It was a 1 mg xanax and I found it immediately after he spit it out, he hasnt vommited and didnt show any side effects like drowsiness or dizziness, he will be 3 yrs old next month and I'm not sure about his weight . I kept him up until about 5 min ago and he passed out after not having a nap today, he acted totally normal after this incident occurred
Brief Answer:
Need not worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the details given.
Although the actual risk depends on the exact amount ingested, here we do not expect a significant intoxication. Ingestion upto 0.25 mg(1/4th of the tablet) will not cause significant/serious adverse effect in a 3 year old child(weight will be about 16-18kg).
Just watch him for coming 24 hours. Watch for symptoms like excessive drowsiness/sleepiness, headache, swaying wile walking or slurred speech. If no such symptoms in coming 12-24 hours, we need not worry. If any such symptoms appear, kindly take him to your doctor without further delay for evaluation.
Also let us keep any drugs at home safely out of reach of children. They have the habit of exploring anything that they comes across.
I hope this answer will help
