I Was Recently Hospitalized With Gastritis Severe Pain , Vomiting

Question: I was recently hospitalized with gastritis severe pain, vomiting and edema in stomach legs and feet. I was recently put on hydralazine and rosuvastatin as well as rantitidine. I don’t know if there’s any correlation with ringing in left ear and some hearing loss with any of these medications.
My entire body is swollen now. I don’t have anymore pain but I have bloating in my abdomen and hearing loss in my left ear. I feel dizzy and off balance because I am a diabetic and I have severe neuropathy and they say I also have gastoparesis. I am frightened the most about the change in my hearing. My kidneys have slight damage as well.

Brief Answer:

Do hearing (audiological) exam and CT scan of ears.

Detailed Answer:

Hi

The ringing in your left ear is not caused by drugs such as hydralazine, ranitidine or rosuvastatin.

I would advise you to do hearing (audiological) exam and CT scan of ears.

Sometimes cholesterol as you are having cause deposits around major blood vessels close to your middle and inner ear lose some of their elasticity and the ability to flex or expand slightly with each heartbeat.

This causes blood flow to become more forceful, making it easier for your ear to detect the beats and cause ringing.

Rosuvastatin prevents this and ringing in ears

As your entire body is swollen i would advsie you to do a PET CT scan , 2 D echocadiography test and blood test for urea and creatinine

Spironolactone a potassium sparing diuretic (water pill) that prevents your body from absorbing too much salt and keeps your potassium levels from getting too low can be taken with your doctors advise

Tricyclic antidepressants such as amitriptyline and nortriptyline may also help for ringing in ears

Avoid loud noises, caffeine and nicotine.

Regards
