I Was Referred To A Cardiologist Because I Was Intermittently

Question: I was referred to a cardiologist because I was intermittently lightheaded. I subsequently diagnosed with an enlarged aorta (I've included the CT scan).

The cardiologist prescribed the following medications:
Lisinopril 5mg Tablets
Metoprolol ER Succinate 25mg Tabs
Rosuvastatin 10mg Tablets

My concern is that my blood pressure sometimes seems low to me and I wonder if these medications will lower it further. For example, one reading today was 111/69, and another reading was 102/65.

What side effects will these medications have for someone who already gets intermittently lightheaded and has what I believe to be low blood pressure?

After going through the medical query raised by you and reviewing your CT chest report I would like to tell you that the medication which your doctor has prescribed is important to delay the process of dilatation of the ascending aorta and to keep your heart rate under control to avoid stress on aorta due to faster heart rates.

However it’s also true that these medications (Lisinopril and Metoprolol) does affect blood pressure also. So yes you have to be little cautious and keep monitoring your bp at regular intervals specially when u feel symptomatic.

Also avoid taking lisinopril if your bp is just borderline (100 systolic). These drug related modifications you have to do yourself in order to avoid complications like loss of consciousness due to hypotension.
