The usual dose is 37.5 mg a day which is equivalent to 30 mg of phentermine base
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service,
I carefully read your query and understand your concern.
Adipex 37.5 mg is similar to the phentermine base of 30 mg. The usual dose for weight loss is 15-37.5 mg of Adipex, before breakfast or 1-2 hours after breakfast. It can all be taken in the morning or may also be divided into two doses taking half in the morning and a half in the evening.
It should be taken only with doctor's advice and as a supplement of other measures of weight loss, exercises included.
Possible side effects are generally related to gastrointestinal effects (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation) or irritability, dizziness, problems with sleep. Some patients may get high blood pressure and rarely neurological symptoms.
I would recommend you to not take more than 37.5 mg a day as this is the usual dose that is recommended. Also, combine it with limited calory intake and exercises to have a better result. You will need also need to have regular follow-ups with your doctor.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Detailed answer below
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome back,
I am not sure it is advisable to open the capsule and take half. This is because most of the time, the medications in a capsule form are made to be opened in the bowel and not in the stomach. It may happen that if the medication is directly in the stomach it may be less effective (the stomach acid may deactivate it) or the drug is too heavy on the stomach (may cause you more nausea and vomiting).
Please consult this with the pharmacist to be sure.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
