Question : was told my Amylase levels are elevated 142. urgent care doctor told me it may be pancreatitis but asked me to follow up with primary. i dont smoke, drink, nor eat meat (vegan) so unsure how i can have this. im not in pain but still feeling stomach discomfort, very much gassy after i eat and an constipated. sometimes i am nauseated too. urgent care sent me home scared that something serious could be wrong with me. my primary saw labs and set appt some 2 weeks out!

Hello,
Have seen your details and i appreciate your concerns.
The catch is that you have written that you don't have pain right now.
Pain is the primary presenting sign of pancreatitis(And is really severe/One of the worst a patient can have).
Secondly you are constipated.Constipation causes stagnation of food.This stagnated food is acted upon by group of bad bacteria's releasing
Toxic gases which compresses the intestines(through which nerves passes).This leads to inflammation infection and abdominal discomfort.
30-130 Units|l is normal and yours is 142i.e just a mild elevation.
I would suggest you to-
Miralax 30 ml twice daily for emptying intestines.
Take like VSL#3 twice daily to replate guy flora.

Repeat serum Amylase and lipase again.
An ultrasound abdomen should be done.
