Detailed Answer:
Hi...
Welcome to Ask a doctor.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX
As per internationally accepted protocols, all mammalian bites are an indication of rabies vaccination.
Rabies is a viral infection that is spread by bite or scratching of an infected animal.By the time the symptoms appear,it is generally too late to save the patient. It causes brain inflammation, hydrophobia(fear of water),coma and death.Rabies has 100 percent mortality and at the time of bite ,there is no way to tell for sure whether an animal is rabid or if it has passed on an infection.Even if we go for a lab test,by the time a diagnosis is confirmed,it is too late to take any action.Postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) with a vaccine provides 100percent protection.
So please go for vaccination immediately.
Hope that I have answered your query. If you have any other queries, please let me know.
Wishing best of health.
Regards.
