Question : Hi i was wondering why whenever i get an iv, when the needle is in just past the tip, whether its at a 30,45 or flush angle, the needle tip hits something and it feels like stabbing
Brief Answer:
The stabbing feeling can be related to nerve touch during IV manipulation
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
During the IV manipulation, the needle is inserted in the vein and may hit the nerve.
This can be related to the stabbing feeling.
In such a case, it is recommended to use a vein catheter because it is more gentle with the vein.
