Question : I went into the doctor because someone I was dating contracted trichomoniasis. Without waiting on a result, the doctor prescribed Metronidazole. He said take 2 grams there and prescribed 3 500mg pills per day for 7 days. Everywhere I read, its one or the other. Is this some type of mistake?

Hello,

the primary regimen from trichomonas is either metronidazole 500mg bid (twice daily) for 7 days or 2grams as a single dose (only once!).

Perhaps the doctor offered two choices? I don't know...
This is something to discuss with him.
