Question: I went to the urologist yesterday. My PSA scores have been 4.2, 3.9, 5.27 and 4. We are considering an MRI. I forgot to mention to him that i have been experiencing fairly painful low back pain in my right lower back. I don't know if it is due to muscle, soft tissue, or something else. I was reading that deep low back pain could be associated with prostate cancer. How can you tell if low back pain is due to prostate issues vs. muscle or other issues?

Brief Answer:
MRI of LS spine and lower abdomen

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

In prostate cancer pain is in low back, hips, thighs and there is blood in the urine.

Also, your PSA level will be very high.

I would advise you to do an MRI of the lower abdomen and lumbosacral spine to rule out prostate cancer and any sprain in the back

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards
