I%E2%80%99ve Had Allergies All Last Week And This Week, My

Ive been self isolating for two months but went out 7 days ago to the doctor. However we were the only patients she has seen in the office and we all wore masks and gloves. my husband had nasal vestibulitis a few weeks ago and I%E2%80%99m wondering if that infection could%E2%80%99ve spread to me?
Looks like early infection and chronic allergy.

Hi,
Thank you for your. query.
1. The cobblestone appearance of the back of the throat is known as granular pharyngitis. There is some congestion in patches, so this needs both allergy and infection to be ruled out.
2. A throat swab, a PCR throat swab, ASO titre, complete blood counts will help check for infections. Ideally swabs should be taken before starting antibiotics.
3. Till then continue the Z-pack for 3 days. Supportive medication such as OTC (Over The Counter) medicated gargles/oral rinse, an anti-allergy medication and anti inflammation medication will help.
4. Diet should be bland. Avoid cold, sour, spicy and oily food. Have room temperature or lukewarm water.
5. The only way to link the nasal vestibulitis was if similar nasal swabs had been done. Theoretically spread was possible, but difficult to co-relate now. Is he better now?
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.
Regards

As for my husband he def had an infection on his nose - it was checked, and he went on bactrum two weeks ago. He is better now - but I was putting cream on his nose last week. My throat has been very itchy for almost two weeks due to post nasal allergy issues - so I used my tongue to scratch but it became increasingly worse. Yesterday I saw those pop up. Is it possible for chronic allergy to become an infection? or would I have had to come into contact with someone?

Hi,
Thank you for following up.
1. Avoid ibuprofen in this coronavirus pandemic. You can use paracetamol sparingly. An anti-allergy medication will help.
2. If you were applying his ointment for him, contamination is possible. However, it does not matter now. The swabs will help.
3. Infections occur more easily when there is underlying allergy. Infections may arise spontaneously or through contact. Best to treat for both allergy and infection (this may be bacterial/ viral/ fungal) simultaneously.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
