Question : If the nurse clean off the dried blood at reusable tube holder, and prepare the blood drawing process with her hand without gloves, could there be chance that the dried blood end up on needle and that I could be infected with hiv or hepatitis? The needle is new and the equipment is vacutainer from needle to tube
Brief Answer:
You are not at risk of getting HIV or Hepatitis.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Leosimachokedee,
Welcome to Ask a Specialist Service.
The process of blood collection through vacutainer is very safe and if the needle used for drawing the blood was new then there is no chance of getting HIV or Hepatitis so don't get worried or tensed as you are safe. If you need any further assistance please let me know.
Thank You
