Question : I’m 18, earlier today, within the last 12 hours, I keep getting random sharp pains in my right testicle. They last around maybe 2-6 seconds, they hurt bad, but go away. They happen anywhere from 15 minutes to a couple hours apart. It’s happened maybe 7 times or so today. The pain is not constant and I have no swelling or redness of my scrotum and I do not believe the testicle is inflamed. I am scared I have a testicular torsion, but the pain is not constant, and I do not know if with a testicular torsion if the pain is constant.

                                    Brief Answer:
You should be investigated
Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description,it can be Intermittent testicular torsion. The testis will get twisted suddenly, then immediately comes back to normal position. If the twisting continues,it may go into Gangrene..
You should get Colour Doppler of the Scrotum when the pain appears only.It may come normal when there is no pain.
I prefer Colour Doppler of scrotum even now as it may give a clue.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions,I will clarify further
Wish you good health
Regards

If it is intermittent torsion, am I at increased risk for normal testicular torsion? Does this put me at increased risk for them to stay twisted? Is there any danger associated with intermittent torsion? Or is there only danger if it stays twisted, and should i only be concerned if the pain stays instead of leaving?

                                    Brief Answer:
Diagnosis should be confirmed first
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Intermittent testicular torsion can lead to complete torsion in few individuals.
There will be pain for few seconds to minutes in Intermittent one.Apart from that, there will be no problem.
If the pain continues, you should get Colour Doppler of scrotum immediately.
Please consult a Urologist and get Colour Doppler of the Scrotum initially.
Nothing to worry
Hope I answered your question
