Question : I'm 6 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with a UTI. My doctor prescribed me Macrobid and now when I wipe after using bathroom there are brown particles on toilet paper.

Hi,

Macrobid is one among the safe antibiotics in pregnancy. It has no risks to pregnancy or the developing fetus. Therefore I would not be overly worried about using this medication.

The brown discharge may be de to infection per se and not due to antibiotic usage.

No, it doesn't mean infection is working out of the system. Sometimes during an infection the mucosal layer are congested and bleed easily. Occasionally there are stones that form following an infection. Both these cause bleed from genitourinary tract.

If you felt better after the course of antibiotic, then it means you are getting better and the infection is waning.
