Question : I'm a 43 year old woman who has AFib, I am on medication for it. I'm also trying to quit smoking, I've gone from a pack or more to 5 cigarettes in less than a week. I have been using a vape pen occasionally to help with cravings. Today I've noticed my heart rate will go from 55-62, usually staying around the 59/60 mark should I be concerned about this?

I forgot to mention for the AFib I'm on Metoprol

Hello!
Welcome on - Ask a Doctor - service!
I understand your concern and would like to explain that your actual heart rate is not a matter of concern. Heart rate may normally fluctuate depending on physical and psychological conditions.
In individuals with AFib these heart rate fluctuations may be more pronounced; anyway you shouldn't worry about these findings as far as heart rate remains with the range of 55 - 100 bpm. Art the end heart rate is an irregular heart rhythm and you may find different values within a short period.
So, you don't have to be concerned on this issue.
Hope to have been helpful to you!
