I’m A 72-year-old Male In Good Health: 6 Feet Tall,

Question: I’m a 72-year-old male in good health: 6 feet tall, 180 pounds. Active. About 7 years ago, my feet became numb, about a year after my doctor put me on simvastatin. Over the years, the numbness spread above my ankles, and about a year ago, I started to experience pain in the back of my thighs and calves. Three months ago, the pain in my thighs was so intense when I climbed out of bed that I had to stop and let it subside for 15 seconds or so. Walking helped, though the dull pain remained. It got so bad about 6 weeks ago that I stopped the simvastatin after I had read of many others online who experienced similar pain. Two effects were immediate: no sharp pain in the morning since then, and the numbness in my feet has reduced. There’s more tingling, and I can feel texture with my toes. At the same time, my bones have begun to hurt/ache in my legs, thighs and buttocks. It even hurts to sit. I will see my doctor soon again, but I would like another opinion. Is this just part of the aging process, or are the painful thighs and bone symptoms of something more serious? Thank you.
Brief Answer:
Can be osteoporosis and low levels of calcium and D3.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The painful thighs and legs can be related to age related osteoporosis and low levels of calcium and vitaminD3. The numbness is also likely to be related to low levels of vitamin B12. You can get your serum levels tested and start with suitable supplements for relief.
I hope this answers your query.
