Question: I'm concerned about this to know if it could be a tumor of some sort. we have an appointment with a Neurologist tomorrow evening but just wanted an opinion from you as well so that I can be prepared to ask the right questions tomorrow. do these symptoms resemble a tumor or can it be just bang on head? I've heard that tumors usually are not painful. is this true? please advise.

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be a brain tumor.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.

I have noted your wife's symptoms. I would like to reassure you that her symptoms are not suggestive of brain tumor.

There are no specific symptoms of brain tumor, however, certain symptoms, if present, warrant further investigations such as MRI brain to exclude a brain tumor. These include:

1. Severe headache, which is worse on waking up from sleep in morning,

2. Double vision at the peak of headache,

3. Vomiting (without nausea), which relieves headaches

4. Seizures or fits,

5. Weakness of one arm or leg,

6. Drowsiness

If these symptoms are absent, brain tumor is very unlikely.

I sincerely hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
