Question : I'm looking for help from a certified oncologist.
Recent blood work has me concerned. Neutrophils % declined. For years it was 58-60. Now 48%.
Also Absolute declined to 3100 from 5,000.
WBC 6.5, wbc 5.1, platelets 280.
Rest of cbs and cmp all in normal range.
Thank you.
Is the decline in neutrophild concerning? I am a hypochondriac, sorry to say.

Oops.
Meant to say RBC was 5.1
Meant to say RBC was 5.1
Also, it may be relevant that I have been taking 40 mg. of Omeprazole for about 30 days.
Brief Answer:
No this is not concerning
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
This much variation can be expected normally and doesn't necessarily mean 'reduction'. It's still well above lower limit of normal. RBC and platelets are also fine.
So I wouldn't be too much concerned about this report. Omeprazole is not likely a contributor.
I think there's nothing to worry.
Hope this helps.

Thank you Doctor.
Your counsel, given your expertise as an oncologist, is quite comforting.
Much appreciated.
