Question: Hello doctor,

I'm suffering from autoimmune disorder, this disorder effected my left hand joint and skin...
Doctor took a test for ANA and the result is negative...
My periods are very regular...I get my periods 19th of every month...very rarely the period starts on 20th ...
Actually we are planning for a second child and our first child is 6 yrs old...I didn't get my period this month on 19th...till today I didn't get my period....but usually they are regular...when I took home pregnancy test, I showed negative and even blood test too showed I am not pregnant...
I am confused now...am I not pregnant? I have heard about hook effect...is it because of my autoimmune disorder that the tests are showing negative even I am pregnant?
I also have bp and thyroid. ..I am taking thyronorm 25mcg for thyroid and nicardia retard 20 for bp...
Pls Suggest...

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understand your health concerns ,
If your blood test and urine test both are negative for pregnancy then you are not pregnant. You can get the tests repeated after 2 weeks to rule out a delayed conception.
The delay in periods can be due to low levels of thyroid also. Do get your TSH levels evaluated and get the dosage adjusted in case the levels are abnormal.

Thank you doctor, I have taken thyroid test recently...not even a month is over...thyroid test is normal doctor.. is there a chance that the urine and blood test are negative now in this stage and show positive after some days? I am three days post my period...when should I test to make sure I am pregnant or not?

Thanks for writing again.
Your blood test is negative now. It is best to wait for your periods to start on their own for next two weeks and then get a repeat blood test done when your periods are overdue by 15 days. If that test is also negative then pregnancy is completely ruled out and you can get hormonal tablets prescribed by your gynecologist to get a bleeding.
The pregnancy test can be positive after two weeks due to a delayed conception.

Thankyou Doctor, my period is still missing and I could see today creamy white discharge ...little nausea which comes and goes and backache....backache reduces if I rest for a while.. plz suggest...
