Brief Answer:
High Grade fever and decreased blood counts is common in typhoid fever

Detailed Answer:
Hi...
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor"service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query/reports and here is my opinion.

A usual typhoid fever has 4 stages out of which first is asymptomatic.

In the second stage of symptomatic infection, high grade fever is quite characteristic (between 39 and 40 degrees C)which extends over a prolonged period, until even the fourth week of infection.
This is accompanied by an enlargement of liver and spleen (Hepatomegaly and splenomegaly),irregular bowel (Diarrhea or constipation),dry cough and appearance of body rash.
Typical findings in blood work include leukopenia, neutropenia and thrombocytopenia,
More severe the infection, more evident these findings are.

You can take Paracetamol 500mg for fever and do tepid sponging(use tap water and not cold water).
Keep yourself well hydrated.
Have soft easily digestible diet.
Take rest.
Injection Ceftriaxone (Monocef) and Quinolones are the drugs of choice.

Fever and other symptoms will wean off gradually and the blood counts would get back to normal.

Hope that I have answered your query.

Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
High Grade fever and decreased blood counts is common in typhoid fever

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

A diagnosis of leukemia can be done by a complete blood count (CBC),which will reveal an abnormally high leukocyte number.
These leukocytes are abnormal and are called leukemic cells.
Their morphology is documented by a Peripheral blood film (PBF).
In a CBC report,an abnormal levels of white blood cells and abnormally low red blood cells (Anemia) or platelet counts (Thrombocytopenia) can also indicate leukemia.
A Bone marrow aspiration and needle biopsy is done for confirmation.

The symptoms of leukemia may be unexplained fever of long duration, fatigue, abnormal bruising or bleeding, significant unintentional weight loss and recurrent infections.

Looking to your symptoms and CBC Report, there is nothing to indicate a possibility of leukemia.

Happy living.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
High Grade fever and decreased blood counts is common in typhoid fever

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Patients usually have a high grade fever in first week of typhoid.
There are actually four clinical stages of enteric fever, each roughly one weak.
The first stage, when infection is symptomatic ,usually has a fever of steadily increasing temperature associated with malaise, dry cough, lassitude, muscle pains and headache.
Initially, you can take Paracetamol 500mg round the clock(thrice a day or four times)for fever and then make it s.o.s ,once fever is controlled.
Do tepid sponging.

Fever starts to go down by the second week.

Typhoid is usually diagnosed by a Widal test.
Though neither sensitive nor specific, but it is the mainstay of typhoid fever diagnosis.
It measures agglutinating antibodies against H and O antigens of causative organism S typhi.

A complete blood count (CBC) shows leukopenia (Decrease in number of white blood cells).
A blood culture is used to show and document S typhi bacteria.
ELISA blood test for antibodies to the S typhi bacteria is also done.
A diagnosis of typhoid fever can also be done by a stool or urine culture where sample is analyzed examined under a microscope for Salmonella typhi bacteria.

Your clinician can guide you about the test best suited for you according to your clinical condition and examination findings.
