Question : Hello, I am taking 80 mg of geodon at night for schizoeffective disorder, 0.5 mg klonopin in the morning and 1 mg at night for anxiety, 20 mg propranolol three times a day for tachycardia, 500 mg depakote ER twice a day for mood stabilization, and 20 mg cymbalta for depression. The cymbalta is not working very well for my depression so I was wondering if it's okay to switch to 20 mg prozac in the morning. It said on Google that prozac raises the levels of propranolol and the combination can cause a low or uneven heart rate, low blood pressure, seizures, etc. So is it okay to take prozac with the dosage of propranolol I'm taking and is it okay to take it with geodon, depakote ER, and klonopin? Also, the last time I took prozac with these medications it was causing me akathisia but I was taking geodon in the morning at the same time with prozac. But now I'm taking geodon at night and plan on taking the prozac in the morning so do you still think I'll have akathisia from it?
Brief Answer:
Consultation
Detailed Answer:
Dear ,
The chances of akathisia is high irrespective of timing of prozac use. This is because prozac has long half life of 3-7 days and potential interaction will be there whether you take Geodon in morning or evening.
Considering this fact I do not feel prozac is best option for you.
I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks.
