Question : In the past I have not been able to get shingles vaccine because I am allergic to mycin drugs. It looks to me like the new zoster recombinant vaccine for shingles is not a mycin drug. Is that correct?

I understand your concern.

Two vaccines are licensed and recommended to prevent shingles in the U.S, Zoster vaccine live (Zostavax) has been in use since 2006 and Shingrix.

Shingrix does not contain preservatives.

But anyway, if you are allergic to mycin you should not do the shingles vaccine.
