Hi,

Thanks for writing in.

Pain over XXXXXXX in leg is called as XXXXXXX splints. Sometimes it can also be due to Stress fractures.

Causes for XXXXXXX splints might be over tasking your leg suddenly, running on hard surfaces, activities causing outward rotation (pronation) of your foot, overweight, check whether you have flat foot. Rarely do few patients have some marrow edema / increased pressure inside leg bone causing this pain.

If you observe any additional signs like swelling over foot, pitting edema over XXXXXXX redness in skin, numbness in foot, etc., it is better to consult an orthopaedician. X-ray of your leg might help to rule-out other possibilities.

1. Avoid running or jogging for 2-3 weeks. Walking, swimming & cyclic can be done.
2. If there is minimal swelling - ice fomentation / crepe bandage application / elevation of limb over 1-2 pillows for 1 wk - 10 days will be useful.
3. A trial of over counter pain killers can be taken for a wk.
4. If you have flat foot - corrective insoles with cushioned heels and medial arch support will be useful.

Get well soon.
Regards
