Question : My 9 year old daughter took 0.5 mg of Xanax. She weighs 100 pounds and in on no other medications. Should I take her to the ER?
Brief Answer:
you should take her to ER if any respiratory problem
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing to us. I can understand your concern.
Xanax is not indicated in children. However 0.5 mg is not at all high dose. She is safe. She may get excess sedation and dizziness. If she feels any problem in breathing or any other symptoms apart from sedation like severe headache or diarrhea take her to ER for check up. Otherwise you can wait for 8-10 hours after which its effects will go away.
Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
