Question : I have a serum creatinine level/measurement of 0.7 mg/dl. It was flagged as too low. All other test results were normal. Am I in danger of kidney failure?
Brief Answer:
kidney failure causes an increase in creatinine
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
It is understandable to be concerned about any abnormal result but decreased creatinine does not indicate kidney failure.
The kidneys help to get rid of creatinine.
Kidney failure causes increases in creatinine levels not a decrease so if you were at risk the levels would higher than normal.
The normal range can vary slightly from one lab to the next. The normal range at some other labs is 0.4 to 1.1, with this range your level would be considered normal.
Low creatinine can sometimes indicate a low/reduced muscle mass but it is not otherwise problem
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
