                                    Brief Answer:
Risk higher. Confirmation required
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for posting on HealthCareMagic. NTD stands for neural tube defect and NT for nuchal translucency, both of which form the biophysical markers for screening of Down syndrome. A higher maternal age as in your case increases the possibility of Down syndrome.
In the first trimester screen blood test for Pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) as either free beta subunit or total hCG, along with ultrasound for nuchal translucency are done, and a mathematical calculation is done based on that. Probability of 1 in 300 or higher as in your case indicates a higher likelihood of Down syndrome. But it has to be confirmed by chorionic villus sampling (CVS) in the first trimester or amniocentesis in the second trimester. Are you talking about aminocentesis as your second test? If not, you have to go for aminocentesis or even better chorionic villus sampling to be sure.
