Brief Answer:
10,000 IU is the maximum daily dose

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I understand your concern. In Rheumatoid Arthritis, taking vitamin D can be beneficial in many aspects such as maintaining bone health, given that people suffering with RA are at increased risk of bone loss, also due to corticoid drugs. It is also beneficial for the immune system and this is particularly important in RA as an autoimmune disease.

The upper limit of vitamin D dose that is considered safe is 10,000 IU (International Units) per day, which is equal to 0.25 mg. I suspect you meant 1000 IU instead of 1000 mg, which would be way over the safe limit.

The lab results are not attached, so if you would kindly try to attach them again I would be happy to look at them.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions.

Wishing you good health and all the best.

This upload will have the blood test results.

I was going from memory on the D3 dosage. Thanks for clarifying.

The only drugs I take are Hydroxychloroquine two 200 MG tablets per day

Methotrexate - four 2.5 MG tablets per week.

I take no pain pills, Rx or over the counter. I do have an oz. of Tart Cherry Concentrate each night.

My last mammogram had no suspicious areas. I go for another in October.

I'm 75, physically active, eat fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, nuts, seeds, drink water, green tea and some coffee and occasionally have an ice cream cone. I have a BMI of 21.4

I feel good, live by myself and want to keep it that way.

Thanks for your help

Brief Answer:
Need follow up

Detailed Answer:

I went through your lab results and your red blood cells are a little below the norm, which shows slight anemia which in this case, given the other parameters (normal MCV) May very possibly be due to chrnonic disease, in this case Rheumatoid Arthritis. I would recommend you follow up for a Reticulocyte count and repeat bloodwork every few months.

Your lab results also show slightly elevated blood sugar levels. In this case you need to follow up with a HbA1C test and possibly a glucose tolerance test to check for diabetes. Methotrexate is known to cause an increase blood sugar levels so the abnormal findings on your test results may be do to this drug, however it is important to rule out diabetes first.

I hope this answers your questions. You are welcome to ask further questions.

Wishing you good health and all the best.
