I'm sorry for the delay and confusion. In aug. of this year, my Periodontist removed 2 teeth. The pain was aweful. He tried codine and the tramadol. I couldn't take either medication because I had an allergic reaction. In Sept I went to my regular dentist, who removed 3 more teeth. He prescribed antibotics and oxycodonone. I could not take the oxycodon. So, he prescribed 1 800mg ibuprofen every 6 hours. I have a massive infection in my lower jaw and sinus cavity. Throbbing pain, and it's seems to be taking a long time to heal. I don't expect you to solve this problem. My MD retired, and I'm in the process of finding a new Doctor. My question has to do with pain management.
I'm having horrible side effects from the ibuprofen. Dizzy, lightheaded, trembling, tinitus, up set stomach, increased anxiety. I rarely left my condo because I can't cope with the pain.
I have been taking celebrex for years . one 200 mg capsule in the morning for ostro arithis. When I take my morning pill , it also seems to help my tooth pain.
My question, would it be feasbile to ask my dentist to stop taking the ibuprofen and take 2 celebrex per day. not to exceed 400 mgs per day? sorry for typos.

Brief Answer:
Yes, you can take Celebrex 200 mg twice a day to control pain.

Detailed Answer:

I'm sorry for the delay in answering your question.

Yes, if you tolerate Celebrex and have no history of liver problems, you can take 200 mg twice a day.

I would also ask the dentist if this is normal to continue to have intense pain for so long. I just want to make sure that the infection is under control and that we aren't treating pain from infection.

I do hope you will feel better soon.
