Is 5th Dose Of Rabipur Vaccination Necessary For Mild Dog Scratch?
Question: Hi,
I had a very mild scratch from dog. The doctor prescribedd 1 TT injection and 4 doses of Rabipur Injections(on 0, 3, 7, 14th days). The 4 doses are already completed.
But when i checked the Vaccination card inside the Rabipur packet, its showing 5 doses need to be taken (on on 0, 3, 7, 14, 28th days). So i checked with the doctor again, he told the 5th dose is not needed.
So i just want to confirm whether the 5th dose is needed or not ? please let me know the reason if the 5th dose is not needed.
Could you please advise.

5th dose is indicated in all cases. Moreover when the vaccination has been started it should be completed.
We sometimes skip the 5th dose in case the dog which has bitten is a pet and is behaving normally after 10 days of bite.
Otherwise in all cases 5 doses of XXXXXXX are indicated.

As per your suggestion, I have taken the 5th dose of Rabipur which was due today.
So when I consulted another doctor today, he told normally there are 6 doses from 0, 3, 7, 14, 28 and 90th day. But I might not need the 6th dose on 90th day.
So could you please confirm that I need to take only 5 doses of Rabipur injection.
