Question : My daughter has just been diagnosed with HPV and had a coloscopy on Thursday. She has bad acne and has been seeing a dermatologist. She is on conventional drug therapy but really wants to take Accutane for her acne. My husband and I have been highly against it....any thoughts? She just finished her first year in college as a nursing student.

Accutane contains isoretinoin and is used to treat severe acne . In your daughter's case use of accutane should depend on how severe her acne happens to be . It should be used only after a doctor'spprescription . It does have side effects like burning and rashes if it's sensitive to skin . Hence one has to be sure before taking it . Make sure other hormonal disorders are ruled out some of which cause acne also . Use accutane only with a prescription .
