Is Aptima HPV Assay Done 15 Days After Exposure Conclusive?

default
Posted on Mon, 29 Aug 2016
Question: Hi doctor,

Do you consider Chlamydia/Gonorrhea tests conducted at 8 days after exposure accurate ?

What about APTIMA HIV early detection test at 15 days ?

and Hep B PCR Qualitative test at 21 days ?

Also the exposure I had is unprotected oral (my male organ in her mouth) not sure if she has cuts or sores in her mouth, regarding my genitals it was red and sore afterwards but no visible cut or at least there was no bleeding I'm not sure about cuts they may be microscopic due to irritation.
Is it reasonable to worry about HIV and Hepatitis B or am I just driven by paranoia and anxiety (which can be hard to cope with daily) ?

Brief Answer:
No need to worry about HIV or other STDs.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Hossam,

Welcome to HCM.

The risk of getting HIV from unprotected oral sex is very less because human saliva is not the fluid which transmits HIV so you need not to worry.

Chlamydia and gonorrhea at 8 days, Aptima HIV at 15 days, Hep B PCR at 21 days all are negative and considered highly reliable and accurate also.

She has no cuts or sores in her mouth so don't get worried about other STDs also. Don't get anxious or paranoid as the risk is very unlikely. Be relaxed, forget the episode and move on in life happily.

Thank You
