Question : Hi! Is it important if a random blood test indicates that my C-reactive protein is high (12.4 mg/l)? I also have consistently low blood pressure (90/60) and have been feeling extremely exhausted for the last 6 months or more. Other than these two abnormalities, all indicators seem normal. I've consulted two physicians who are both of the opinion that I have mild anxiety because of a stressful job. I only just remembered that a random blood test in Feb 2015 had revealed high CRP, but I did not follow up on it.

I'm a 37 year old female, no diabetes, thyroid dysfunction or anemia. I have family history of cardiac disease. 3 grandparents died in their 60s and 70s due to CAD and hypertension. Just trying to understand the reason for this chronic exhaustion. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Very non specific.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.

CRP is a non specific test and can be raised in various conditions including infections, inflammation.

High CRP with positive family history of cardiac events pose you at risk of cardiac problems in further but can be controlled Bu right exercises and eating right.

As said its a non specific test and doesn't lead you to any conclusion.

So my strong advice would be to stay away from CRP report and lead a healty life.

Moreover to ease your concern, CRP is not at all a market of exhaustion.
There is a condition Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which is linked to elevated ESR and CRP but the treatment is stress free life.

Go for yoga and meditation.

I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
