Question: Hi Doctor!
I was browsing at internet about some alternative treatments for patients who are suffering from astrocytoma. And found out that CBD oil can help in someway. Is it something to consider in improving the life of the patient or not? Best regards, XXXXXXX

Dear
Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your health concern and after reviewing your case history I'm of the following opinion:

1. As she is suffering from Astrocytoma III [mentioned in another query] thus it is malignant [cancerous] tumor which means one has to be under constant supervision and guidance of Neurosurgeon. [since recurrence is there even after exhaustive treatment]

2. Cannabidiol [CBD] oil is a natural, non psychotropic concentrate extracted from hemp and although is used in the treatment of grade III astrocytoma but since it is not an approved/accepted treatment thus if you want to use it your attending Physician must be told about the same. [you may also look for CBD liquid/capsules/tincture/Gum]

Thank you Doctor.
In the moment I asked the Oncologist if there is any problem to gave cdb oil to my wife and She that was not sure about it. My concern is that now my wife has terminated radio-chemiotherary and the oncologist said that tumor has decreased but no longer She hasn't any father action to do. She prescribed betanoide to control the swelling only and wait for 6 six months to evaluate the situation. As She said that do you see inconvenience to give her cbd oil or not? there is interactions problems with betanoide and epilim?

Hello again.
As She had had moments of epileptic attacks, the doctor prescribed it (epilim) as an anti convulsant.
I made made a mistake on writing. Betanoid is the correct name.
Sorry about my english.

Thanks for reverting back.

1. As epilim reduces the serum level of steroids thus will decrease the efficacy of betanoid, this is the possible drug Interaction which your doctor is talking about.

2. As steroid are usually prescribed for a said duration thus once you are off you may start with CBD Oil.

So you mean that while She is taking betanoid + epilim is not advisable to take cbd oil? Am I right?

Brief Answer:
to the best of my knowledge

Detailed Answer:
Dear
Thanks for reverting back.

1. As the Pharmacology and drug drug interactions of anticonvulsant epilim directly affects the therapeutic action of betanoid thus it wil be wise not to take CBD oil till either of the above mentioned drug(s) is stopped.
