Brief Answer:
It has less than 1% pregnancy rate

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for your query.

Copper-t is a very effective method of contraception with less than 1% pregnancy rate. It does have a few side effects like pelvic discomfort, increased menstrual bleeding, sometimes acne, and expulsion. It may also cause increased risk of infections. Fertility returns within a few months of removal of copper-t. It is preferably used in women who have had pregnancy in the past.

Multiload type of copper-t is best. The 375 type offers lower fertility then the 200 type. Your gynecologist will be able to help you.

Apart from copper-t intrauterine devices (IUD) there are IUD that are impregnated with hormones and are also considered good. These decrease the bleeding during menstruation.

Hope it helps
