Question: Hi Doctor
I have undergone MTP process orally at 6 weeks of pregnancy, after 10 days I went for ultrasound scanning(TVS) and found minimal RPOC of Length*Thickness*Width of 18*8*12 mm dimensions with endometric thickness of 16mm.Again I took misoprostal of 800 mg vaginally and the following day with 200mg Misoprostal three times a day with this i have got lot of pain and little cramping happened .After this I did Ultrasoundscan(TVS) and found the still some RPOC are there with endometric thickness of 20mm.
Do I need to go for D & C or any other ways to to get rid of this problem .Can any doctor suggest me in this.
Thanks in Advance XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Yes you require a D and C

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing..
I understand your concern..

Since you have taken misoprostol tablet vaginally and still there is retained products, I would suggest to undergo D and C.. It is a small procedure which will require a stay of less than the 2 days in the hospital..

The retained products can cause uterine infection which can affect the future pregnancy.. It can also cause continuous bleeding leading to anemia..

Hope i have answered your query.. feel free to ask any doubts.. Good day..

Brief Answer:
D and C would be better

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing..

Yes, doxy will prevent infection to some extent but not completely.. There is no guarantee that the rpoc will expel by next cycle.. Sometimes it will remain in the uterus causing continuous bleeding.. I would recommend D and C at the earliest so that retained products will be removed soon..

Hope I have answered your query.. good day..

Brief Answer:
Yes, it should be fine

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing..

It would be ok if done after a week unless you have symptoms like heavy vaginal bleeding, foul smelling vaginal discharge and severe pain abdomen.. You might require rest for few days.. Normal routine works can be done..

Hope I have answered your query.. Good day..
