Is Deriva Gel Effective In Reducing Acne Scars?
Question: Hi Doctor iam 22 years old (M). i was having 2-3 acne on face and some acne on back. i consulted dermatologist and he prescribed me DERIVA GEL BPO (for Face) and ISOIN 20MG tab (1 tab at night for 30 days) and ALLSUTH LOTION FOR BACK ACNE. now i dont have any acne on face except some acne scars.
Following are my queries. please help me by answering it.
1. Should i continue apply DERIVA GEL on face as i am not having acne on face but have some acne scars. does that cream fade acne scars ? also it is making my skin red after applying it.
2. Side effects which i am facing after taking ISION 20MG TAB is nausea, drowsiness and feeling low all the day..as it is affecting my studies so i am taking one tablet within 2-3 days.. is it ok to take gap of 2-3 days in taking ISOIN TAB. ??
3. Should i continue taking ISION TAB or stop it considering i still have some acne on back ?
4. i already have applied 2 bottles of ALLSUTH LOTION on back , should i continue that lotion or stop that also ?

You surely have few acne lesions over the face .
You should continue to sparingly apply deriva over the face. This will help in reducing the acne induced inflammation as well as help in reducing the scars .
As far as isotretinoin is concerned ,since you are having side effects due to the drug ,you can either take 10 mg capsule daily or you can take 20 mg capsule on alternate days . These are both low dose isotretinoin therapies used in patients who cannot tolerate the routine doses.
You should surely continue with isotretinoin since it acts both on acne as well as prevents the development of scars ,also it causes skin remodelling and decreases the acne scars .
In case you have any active ,red or inflammatory acne lesions over back ,then you should continue to apply the lotion over the back ,else only oral medicine will help .

In a patient with acne ,the aim of a dermatologist is to firstly prevent development of new lesions and secondly to prevent the formation of scars , hence you have been given the medicines accordingly .
So it's better to take treatment at the right time so that scar formation can be prevented rather than taking treatment after scars have already formed .
