Brief Answer:
Just continue breast feeding. Nothing else.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Let me emphasize on the fact that breast milk is the best possible milk for a baby and there can be no alternatives for the same. The weight gain has been proper and there is nothing to worry. Please do not shift to formula milk. Although it might enhance the weight gain, it will do more harm than good. I would therefore not like to name any formula milk for you to start. Please do not go for Dexolac Special Care or anything else, not even once a day. Just continue breast feeding exclusively till 6 months of age and then introduce weaning foods while you continue breast feeding upto at least 18 months of age.

Brief Answer:
No, sucking hands does not necessarily mean that the child is hungry.

Detailed Answer:
No, sucking hands does not necessarily mean that the child is hungry. There is a natural tendency of a baby to put everything in the mouth. The hands are most accessible and so it is not unusual for them to put their hands into their mouth. In a sense, putting hands into the mouth infers a sense of security to the baby. Taking the baby into the mother's lap and interacting with the baby is perhaps a better idea.
