Is Doxycycline Effective At Treating A Sinus Infection?

Question: Can Doxycycline be used for a sinus infection? On Friday evening under my right eye swelled up like a frog's throat with a little firmness. I had been experiencing tightness in the right side and stoppage in the right ear for a couple of days. I had some doxycycline from a recent surgery and started that Saturday morning. It seems to be working in that the swelling has decreased by half after just one day on it, but I don't know if I'm helping my body or not.
