Question: I was prescribed 30 ml cream of Oxistat for a fungus on bottom of foot that I believe that i picked up when I got a pedicure/Foot doctor that I visited said that I might have dermitis. However my insurance will not cover the cost of prescription and I found out it will cost over $600.00/ Out of my reach/ Druggist suggested Econozole/ Is that effective/The bottom of my right foot is very dry and gets hair line cracks/ Right now I am treating with OTC Tinactin and keeping it moisturized with Anlaction Body Creami

Brief Answer:
Yes, Econazole will work the same.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for asking HealthcareMagic,
I read it carefully and I can understand your concern.

Yes, Econazole cream is effective. Also, the other ones you are using are effective like Lamisil or Lomotrin. The infection you have got may need 6 months up to 2 years to get treated, so either of those creams would help the same, and you will need to use it patiently for that time.

Also, other practical measures will help like keeping your foot as much dry as possible to avoid wet environment, avoid pedicure.

If not better after using that medication for some time, you may need an oral treatment. That treatment is very expensive and needs a local doctor's prescription so you can get that with reimbursement. Anyway, for now, try the over the counter one and hopefully it will work fully and you won't need the oral meds.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.
