Question : Hi, can flucloxallin be used to treat a gum abcess ?
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for the query.
Flucloxacillin is a narrow spectrum antibiotic, that targets Strep. aureus, but not much else other than that. It does work against some forms of dental and gum abscess. but there are better choices available for the treatment for gum abscesses like Amoxycillin,CLINDAMYCIN,co-amoxiclav etc.
You must consult your dentist for the prescription of proper antibiotic.
I hope to have answered your query however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck.
Thanks
