Brief Answer:
You can start medications

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome back.

Your HbA1C is also high.

(Normal HbA1C is less than 5.7%, it has to be at least below 7% in diabetes
Fasting sugars has to be below 130 mg/dl and PPBS below 180 mg/dl when you are having diabetes)

You have to be started on metformin immediately and dose increased if you are not having side effects.

The common side effects in practice are stomach upset (diarrhea or gastritis). If you are not experiencing these side effects, you can increase the dose if the sugars are not controlled in 2 weeks time. The dose is usually 500 -3000 mg per day.

If sugars are not getting controlled, other medicines has to be added to metformin.

Brief Answer:
At your blood sugar values it is better to continue

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.

We stop medications once HbA1C is less than 5.7%, FBS is less than 100 mg/dl and PPBS is less than 140 mg/dl. This is unlikely to happen in 2 weeks time. So you have to continue till this target is achieved.

Brief Answer:
Yes you can.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome back. If your sugars are normal after 2 weeks (FBS is less than 100 mg/dl and PPBS is less than 140 mg/dl), you can try stopping medications and retest after 2 weeks.

Wishing you good health.
