Hi,Welcome to HCM
HIV PCR can detect HIV within a week after the infection and it will be accurate, but cannot consider as a conclusive one.As in some individuals the low level antigen could be detectable little late. It is considered conclusive by 3-4 weeks.DNA PCR can detect only HIV 1 antigen and not HIV2 unless it is specified. But prevalence of HIV2 is less than 0.5% in places other than XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
It can detect HIV for both the present and past exposures.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Yes, Of course. This will reveal your HIV status for you past and present exposures of 3 weeks or more than 3 weeks duration. If the test not detects antigen then you are free from HIV 1 infection.
